Shop Guam e-Festival to begin November 10th
November 1, 2018
(Tumon, Guam) The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) has been preparing for the seventh year of the Shop Guam e-Festival, which will return on November 10th and run through February 10, 2019. The GVB signature event also launches a yearlong Shop Guam campaign divided into four promotional seasons – fall, winter, spring, and summer.
“We’re nearly done collecting exclusive offers and promotions from GVB members and businesses that have partnered with us for this special winter e-Festival period,” said GVB President and CEO Nathan Denight. “We’re very excited to share these deals with our local residents and visitors on the free Shop Guam mobile app in time for the November 10th launch.”
The free state-of-the-art Shop Guam mobile app is available in six different languages. It also serves as a visitor guide and has a local events feature for visitors to learn what activities are happening around the island. In addition, the interactive mobile app will introduce new QR codes that can be scanned by merchants for shoppers to redeem available offers.
“We encourage and remind everyone to take part in the biggest shopping event in the western Pacific,” said GVB Director of Global Marketing Pilar Laguaña. “The Shop Guam campaign is a great opportunity for all shoppers to access great retail offers during the holiday season and local businesses to drive more visitors and island residents to their establishments.”
Winter e-Festival to have special features
The winter e-Festival period for Shop Guam will have exclusive features not found in the other promotional seasons, such as the mobile app’s iBeacon technology that will alert local residents and visitors when they are near local merchants.
GVB will also be inviting digital influencers from Guam’s various source markets to participate in the e-Festival and become Shop Guam ambassadors. Additionally, the Bureau will launch a user-generated content (UGC) campaign to promote the Shop Guam e-Festival by encouraging shoppers to post their shopping experience on social media and tagging GVB so their content can be shared worldwide. The Shop Guam UGC campaign will tie in directly with the second year of the #instaGuam campaign.
The Shop Guam e-Festival in 2017 featured over 300 offers from over 190 different merchants. The campaign generated over $16.6 million USD in media exposure globally, significantly elevating and raising awareness for the Guam brand. The Shop Guam e-Festival mobile app also received the 2017 Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Gold Award for the best mobile app category.
