New members elected to serve in GVB Board of Directors

(Tumon, Guam) The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) announced today that its membership has elected four new members to serve in the GVB Board of Directors.

The new board members include Kloppenburg Enterprises Inc. Vice President for Business Development Brad Kloppenburg, Holiday Tours Micronesia President Satoru Murata and DFS Guam Travel Industry Relations Vice President Tasuo “Tak” Takano. United Airlines Managing Director of Operations for Asia/Pacific Sam Shinohara was also elected to serve a two-year term in the GVB board. 

“The Bureau is excited to work with our newly elected board members to help shape the vision of Guam as a world class destination of choice and continue the momentum in transforming our tourism industry to better the lives of everyone who calls our island home,” said GVB President and CEO Nathan Denight. “We value the feedback of our GVB membership and feel their voices will be best represented with who they elected to serve our island.”

The GVB Board of Directors is comprised of 13 total members including one alternate member. Four members are elected by GVB’s general membership to serve a two-year term. The Governor of Guam appoints five members, including a Mayors Council representative. The Legislative Speaker also appoints three members, including one alternate member. One member is additionally selected by at least 8 board members to serve a two-year term.

The board election meeting was held last week Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Sheraton Laguna Guam Resort.
