GVB makes repairs to Archbishop Flores Memorial Circle
October 18, 2019
(Tumon, Guam) The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) has announced repair work to the rotunda of the Archbishop Felixberto Flores Memorial Circle has been completed.
The rotunda project scope of work involved repairs to two damaged areas of the planter retaining wall, which was caused by traffic accidents. Work also involved water blasting of walls and pathways, as well as painting of the retaining wall and curb. The project cost was just over $10,000 and took about a week to complete by contractor General Pacific Services LLC. The cost for part of the damages to the retaining wall will be reimbursed to GVB upon completion of insurance claims.
“We’re happy the repair work has been finished to one of Guam’s most iconic loops,” said GVB President and CEO Pilar Laguaña. “This is one of the examples of how tourism dollars gets reinvested back into our island and we’re glad it was completed in a short amount of time.”
Maintenance of the memorial circle was turned over to GVB in 2015 after long term improvements to the site were done by the Island Beautification Task Force (IBTF), University of Guam, GVB and other partners.
The Filipino Community of Guam and the Filipino Ladies Association of Guam dedicated the memorial circle on October 25, 1987.
