Jeju Air services new gateway from Korea

(Tumon, Guam) The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB), in partnership with the A.B. Won Pat International Airport, welcomed the arrival of Jeju Air’s inaugural flight from Muan, Korea Tuesday afternoon.

Jeju Air is Korea’s largest low-cost carrier (LCC), which has daily service for the winter season from Muan starting December 24, 2019, to March 7, 2020. Within this timeframe, the new service will operate off a Boeing 737-800 aircraft, providing an additional 14,175 seats to Guam’s current 227,770 seat capacity from Korea.

“Jeju Air‘s launch of new daily direct service between Muan and Guam is great news for Guam residents, offering a direct connection to Muan Airport. This area serves a catchment area over 1.9M residents in the Jeollanam-do province of South Korea. Jeju Air is a valued partner with scheduled and charter services to 10 direct destinations to Guam’ Airport. We thank them for the continued partnership and service to our island,” stated Guam International Airport Authority Acting Executive Manager John “JQ” Quinata.

In commemoration of their inaugural flight, a water salute was conducted and passengers were greeted by Miss Universe Guam 2019 Sissie Luo and Miss International Guam 2020 Franky Hill. The welcoming delegation was led by Speaker Tina Muña Barnes, and members of the GVB and GIAA’s board and management.

“I would like to thank Jeju Air for their continued support in growing the island’s tourism economy,” said Acting GVB President and CEO Bobby Alvarez. “Thanks to Jeju Air, we’ve opened a new gateway making Guam more accessible to South Koreans more than ever. We are excited for our guests to experience our island paradise and learn more about our 4,000-year-old CHamoru culture and Håfa Adai spirit.”
